The queues outside Sorbillo are massive. Imagine a very small shop, with an even smaller entrance, cluttered by many potted plants, with about 50 hungry people waiting outside, and about 10 more trying to squeeze in at any point in time to get their names in the queue, and later squeezing out again to clutter the streets some more, and everyone is just standing around, spilling over on the streets and blocking traffic. Welcome to Sorbillo.

We were told that Naples is the best place to eat pizza. Judging from the queues outside Sorbillo (mostly locals it seems), this might actually be the best place in Naples for pizza, the best of the best, since 1935. Sorbillo sells only pizza, but they do it so damn well you wouldn’t want to eat anything else anyway. The 2 pizzas we had there were hands down, the best pizza we have ever had in our lives. It is very unfortunate that we probably wouldn’t go back to Naples again in our lifetimes, but if we did, this would be the first place we would head for.

We can’t remember exactly what pizza we had, but we do remember that they were amazingly good. From the very first bite to the last we felt our taste buds excited all the way through. The amount of toppings on our pizzas was very generous, and they were absolutely huge. The best thing? Sorbillo is incredibly cheap. They were also nice enough to allow us to open our wine (which we bought for like, 4 euros) without charging corkage.  I think our entire meal cost less than 10 euros for the both of us, which probably made it not only the cheapest meal we had in Italy, but also one of the most memorable.

Service: 7/10
