Featured on the Food Network’s show ‘Best thing I ever ate’, the Doughnut Plant was another destination we really wanted to go to while we were in New York. The Doughnut Plant sells nothing but doughnuts, and the one we had our eye on was their peanut butter and jelly doughnut.

First up, their peanut butter and jelly doughnut is massive. It’s almost as big as A’s face, and is filled with a yummy jelly filling, with a very generous slightly toasted peanut butter glaze. The doughnut itself is quite dense, unlike the Krispy Kreme version, and it was a very yummy creation, the sweetness of the jelly balanced by the saltiness of the peanut butter.

We got a crème brulee doughnut as well. This was tiny, and had an intensely sweet crème filling. We didn’t like this as much, because we found the sweetness a little too sickening. It definitely needed a little saltiness or bitterness to balance the sweetness, like what the peanut butter did to the first doughnut we had.
