Directions from website: From exit 8 of Myeongdong Station (subway line 4) proceed between La Bellavita (coffee shop) and Crown Bakery for about 250m to WHO.A.U (clothes store). Turn left, and walk a short distance and you’ll find the O’sulloc Teahouse on your left.
This place is easy to find because the teahouse is very hard to miss. It has a large, beautiful façade, with nice paneling. This is a popular place for desserts and their green tea flavours are not to be missed.
We had the green tea cheesecake and a mini green, which was basically a green tea cake/mousse thingamajiggy. It was very delicate, and with a wonderful subtle green tea flavour. The green tea sauce (sic) on top of the cake gave it an extra boost of green tea flavour which was lovely. (It really looked like kaya, and got us all excited!)
The green tea cheesecake was also a delicate little beauty. It was airy and soft and melted in our mouths.
The prices here are not cheap, but you get to sit in a pretty little restaurant, and have some really dainty little desserts. O’sulloc sells a lot of tea related products, so we got some really pretty looking tea thingy which will serve as really nice gifts!
As a side note, have we mentioned that we really, really love being back in Asia, and travelling in Korea? It’s so wonderful having all the prices listed with tax included, service is excellent, there is no service tax imposed on you, and you don’t have to tip at all (in fact we read in a guide book that you shouldn’t tip, for some strange reason). Plus the food is good and portions are not belly-stuffingly huge, so you don’t feel like a pregnant cow after every meal.
